Puffed Up For Winter
This Eastern Bluebird is all puffed up in the early morning sunlight trying to keep himself warm on a cold winter day. It was near zero degrees outside that day, and I had been hiking for over an hour that day. I easily noticed the bluebird’s bright blue color—a striking contrast to the bland background of the forest in winter. I was cold with numb fingers and toes, but none of that mattered once I came across this bluebird found sitting on this perch. I took just a few pictures and left him alone so I wouldn’t disturb him.
